INNATE Postpartum Care—Certification Training is a 4-day, intensive retreat for birthkeepers, health care providers and traditional healers, wanting to revolutionize women’s health care through tending the postpartum period. INNATE’s training teaches theory and application of holistic postpartum care, and provides essential understandings in the creation of a thriving human culture.

Ancient postpartum traditions throughout the world—while specific to the cultural context in which they come—all share deep common roots. These postpartum traditions all point to the importance of an extended resting period, warmth, specific foods and bodywork after birth.

Many of these traditions also teach that how a mother is cared for during the postpartum time—will profoundly be reflected in her health through menopause and beyond.

These commonalities of postpartum traditions throughout the world are not a coincidence—they are rooted in our physiologic design as humans.

When we understand postpartum physiology, we understand WHY proper postpartum care assures health and vitality through menopause and beyond.  When we understand the link between postpartum health and post-menopausal health, we understand HOW to optimally care for Mothers; and we understand why postpartum care is not a luxury but a necessity that needs revival on Earth at this time.

‘Physiologic Birth’ is now understood in the birth community and defined as: “Birth that is powered by the innate human capacity of the woman and fetus.  This birth is more likely to be safe and healthy because there is no unnecessary intervention that disrupts normal physiologic processes.”

Physiologic Birth is also known as ‘Undisturbed Birth,’ and the desire for such a birth is why many women are opting for ‘Unassisted Births’—so that the most easeful, physiologic unfolding of birth can happen without interruption from well-intentioned attendants.

The same physiologic phenomenon is true for the postpartum period.  We have a PHYSIOLOGIC design of what our needs are postpartum in order for optimal results to be achieved.

"Physiologic Birth" is now understood in the birth community and defined as: “Birth that is powered by the innate human capacity of the woman and fetus. This birth is more likely to be safe and healthy because there is no unnecessary intervention that disrupts normal physiologic processes.”

The same physiologic phenomenon is true for the postpartum period. We have a PHYSIOLOGIC design of what our needs are postpartum in order for optimal results to be achieved.

The optimal results in regards to the postpartum period, is not just the survival of Mother and baby—but it is the THRIVING of Mother and baby.

We have been surviving as Mothers and babies in modern times—but on a whole we have not been thriving. When women thrive, families thrive. When families thrive, communities thrive. When communities thrive so too does our beautiful Earth. Postpartum care that follows women’s physiologic mandate benefits all of humankind, and is one of the most effective ways that we may properly care for the future generations.

With the understandings of WHY proper postpartum care assures health and vitality through menopause and beyond and HOW to optimally offer this care, the dominant cultural paradigm of ‘postpartum care as a luxury,’ begins to shift to ‘postpartum care as a necessity.’

INNATE Postpartum Care is dedicated to the ancestral wisdom of humanity. We offer perspective on the postpartum period not found in many of the resources currently available. We understand that traditional medicinal knowledge and practices can create social healing, AND THAT this traditional medicinal knowledge is stored within our blood memory, within the Earth, Air, Water and Fire. The more we heal ourselves—the more ACCESS we have to his knowledge. We understand ancient postpartum traditions are based in our physiologic design, and offer to us a blueprint of everything we need in order to thrive as newborn families.

CERTIFICATION TRAINING is 4-full days of holistic postpartum information PLUS hands-on application of postpartum techniques.

After the completion of our training and when possible, a Temazcal/Sweatlodge—is offered to all participants. The purpose of this ceremony is to take care of ourselves as birthkeepers, health care providers and traditional healers. Working with birthing and postpartum women is tremendous work, requiring impeccable management of our own energy. As well, being in these positions of care providers within our own communities REQUIRES of us that we tend to our own healing, so that we may serve in integrity. The Temazcal/Sweatlodge allows us to participate in our own self-care, gain perspective and heal our own birth and lineage traumas, so that we may optimally support women doing the same.

To become CERTIFIED as an INNATE Postpartum Care Provider, the following requirements must be met within 6 months of completion of training:

1. Required reading of 4 books.
